By Surveyors, For surveyors

Surveyors are people too.

I came up with the idea for The Surveyor Hub many years ago. Somewhere to feel connected, a place to share the good stuff and the bad stuff. There were lots of barriers to getting it started but they largely fell into two categories – my own imposter syndrome about doing it and which quickly subsided when I found the right environment to thrive and secondly, a culture in our profession of not talking about feelings. Yes, feelings.

How we feel about the work we do, our clients, our worries about being sued, the things we see and can’t unsee. How we feel about setting up and running our own businesses, or not, and the things that go on at home and in our lives that shape how we work and why we do the job that we do.

The joy of seeing the built environment at its best, the shock and shame of construction and damage. Properties steeped in culture and history and inspired innovation for the future. And feeling lonely when there is no one to share any of that with at the end of the day.

And that’s why The Surveyor Hub is more than a podcast and Facebook group. It’s about feeling connected to others, it’s about our wellbeing and belonging to a diverse community where we learn and grow every day.

To be a part of it you can engage as little or as much as you want. Join the Facebook group, listen to the podcast, follow the blogs.

You can listen to the podcast discussions through this website by clicking on the article below which also include show notes, reference materials and links. Or you can just listen on your usual podcast platform where you will also be able to leave a review to let us know how we are doing and help us spread the word.

Welcome to our community.
